To help with any potential discomfort or anxiety, we offer the FDA-approved Nitrous Oxide System, Porter Nitronox, as an add-on service during any treatment. This is particularly useful during our awake liposuction, Aveli cellulite treatment, or even dermal fillers.
Nitronox delivers a 50% oxygen and 50% nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) mixture for short term relief of pain and anxiety that may be associated with certain procedures. It is self-administered using a disposable mouthpiece, meaning the patient is in control of the amount of gas that is inhaled to attain the desired effect. It is fast acting and unlike traditional laughing gas received at your dentist’s office, all traces fade from your system within ten minutes, so you may drive immediately following your treatment (unless otherwise specified, such as with liposuction).
If you feel any discomfort, you will hold and breathe in through the Nitronox mouthpiece. Upon inhalation, you may feel a warm, tingly, or euphoric feeling. Immediately, you should experience a reduction of tension, anxiety, pain, and nervousness. Throughout the duration of the procedure, you will continue to manage your own treatment, inhaling as needed. It is not uncommon to experience mild lightheadedness or nausea. This should dissipate as the nitrous oxide leaves your system (within 5-10 min).
